Volunteer Profile

One of the many volunteers who support the Hospice on a weekly basis is Lindsay Hoey.

Lindsay has been a volunteer driver since 1993 after he took early retirement from IBM. And in more recent years, he has also been an invaluable volunteer member of the Hospice Fundraising team – from helping with donation administration to selling programmes at fundraising events.

“I decided I wanted to become a driver after hearing at a pre-retirement meeting that the Hospice was desperately looking for people to fill the roles.”

“When I first started, I took patients to and from their hospital appointments but now I drive the patients to Day Hospice.

The best part of the job is seeing the delight on their faces as they really enjoy their time at Day Hospice.”
