Go Purple Day

Join us on October 10th!

We’re inviting YOU, our amazing schools, businesses, and local community, to join us on Friday, the 10th of October, to help create a wave of purple in support of Ardgowan Hospice!
Whether it’s a pair of purple socks, a full-on purple takeover of your office or classroom, a bake sale, a raffle, or simply spreading the word, every purple moment will help make a difference to the people we serve.

Why go purple?

Over 60% of our £11,000 a day running costs need to be raised through fundraising and donations from compassionate individuals, groups and organisations like yourself. Behind every cupcake, costume, and conversation, you’re helping fund vital, compassionate care for patients and families in Inverclyde.

Life-limiting illness affects all of us - our friends, our families, our neighbours. But together, we can bring comfort, dignity, and specialist care to those who need it most—right here in our community.

Help amplify our request for fairer funding

We are asking MPs to attend Hospice UKs parliamentary event in Westminster on 15 October 2025. The theme of this year’s Hospice Care Week is 'more than you think', spotlighting the incredible care that takes place outside our hospice building.

Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting the specialist palliative care we provide across Inverclyde, helping people live well at the end of their lives. We’ll be showing hospice's like ourselves are experts at delivering care closer to home, keeping people out of hospital who do not need to be there, and relieving pressure on the system.

This is something Ardgowan Hospice does every day – supporting people to be where they want to be at the end of life, in the place they love most: their own home. But hospices across the UK are struggling financially, ourselves included.

Surging costs mean that almost every month, another hospice faces the difficult decision to reduce services due to a lack of funding. And this comes just as demand is rising fast, because of our ageing population. We’re asking our supporters to write to their MP so they can attend the official Hospice UK Westminster event and hear what we need to secure our future, care for more patients, and support the NHS.

In Scotland

The next Scottish Government must make palliative care a national priority by:
- Delivering a long-term, sustainable funding model for hospice care, including fully implementing pay parity between NHS and hospice care staff
- Establishing an independent review of palliative care to drive urgent system reform and identify investment needed to meet rising population need, expand community-based care and reduce avoidable hospital use for those at the end of life
-Legislating to deliver a right to palliative care, so that everyone receives the care they need at the end of life

Thank you all!
