Education

As a provider of specialist services, it is essential that Ardgowan Hospice is staffed by appropriately qualified and informed professionals. This is particularly important in the relatively new and rapidly-developing field of palliative care.

Staff members are encouraged to undertake award-bearing courses and to attend conferences and study days relevant to the work of the hospice. In addition, the hospice education service provides a range of education events, which can be accessed in-house.

The need for appropriate education and training is not confined to the clinical staff. For this reason, education and training events are also provided for ancillary staff and volunteers.

In these ways, we intend Ardgowan Hospice to be a learning organisation, staying abreast of and, where possible, leading developments in its field. The important ties the hospice has with the University of Paisley are an important part of this process.
